The t i tle suggests this is about Catalunya but actually it is far more than that…. a burlesque communique explaining banking control. Strikes just the “right” note of aristocratic paternalism

I’ve been listening on radio to some international (aka globalist) press reviews about Spain, they don’t especially seem to want independence but they dutifully regret the government’s “hard line” on Barcelona. The real “juice” from their point of view seems to lie in the threats by some companies to move their registered offices from Catalonia – not their actual production facilities. Somewhat like the threats/hints of this type regarding the UK. Now since there is little or no criticism of the EU among the “secessionists”, this apparently makes little sense since the euro would continue to be the Catalan currency. This suggests that the EU oligarchs want to promote regionalism as they have done since the 1990s in the hope that the regional enti ties have so many local competences, while depending on Brussels for major things, that the nation states’ powers will be vitiated without any of the trauma involving independence for Catalans, the Scots etc. which they would see as a risky return to nationalism. We saw this in Italy with the Northern League from about 1995 to 2012. I don’t think this balancing act will work in the new geopolitical climate but they are still trying.
This is not to say that there are other issues such as drug and other trafficking associated with a maritime hub like Barcelona. And maybe the effects of the present cosmic cycle, outside the control of the oligarchs, such as popular resentment against the powerful in general.
Yes, indeed and I read some comments on The Saker’s site today covering pipeline plans in and around Spain and Catalunya: http://thesaker.is/maidan-in-spain-and-some-new-dog-whistles/
