The ‘space nation’ Asgardia just launched its first satellite … Time will tell whether the Space Kingdom of Asgardia becomes the first space-based nation or whether it will remain simply an orbiting external hard drive. https://www.newscientist.com/article/2153196-the-space-nation-asgardia-just-launched-its-first-satellite/

    • It would be interesting to find out more about Mr Ashurbeyli, his engineering studies, his oil money and his noble Azeri family than found in the bare bones bio on wikipedia….

      • The name Asgardia is from Norse mythology. Dr. Igor Ashurbeyli’s biography is here: https://ashurbeyli.eu.com/

        • Very interesting that he has azeri roots and calls his nation Asgardia (swedish: Asgård). If you open Heimskringla then right at the beginning it says that the gods (asar) were humans that emigrated from “turk-land” and moved north. “Azeri” sounds a lot like “asar”… Turkland would be Iran (means “aryan”) or neighbouring Azerbadjan, where the azeri lives.. long story but I can flesh it out if anybody’s interested. Basically, it’s the world-wide story of human gods who bring civilization. Here in scandinavia this odd statement right at the beginning of one of the major sources of norse mythology, that Odin was from “turk-land”, has not been mentioned much… especially not in schools.
