My guess .. the cleaning lady !!
I’ve heard Joseph speak fondly about Gertrude 😉 She was a bat living inside their house at Oxford. She would fly in and out, somehow . . . a sort of quasi-house pet . . .
Well thank goodness for that, I thought it might be some sort of pet cricket bat.
