LECTURE 4 – DRUID UNIVERSITY

The idea of Druid university is a poetic idea conceived in 2002. Back then we called it Green Man’s university. The idea of learning from the trees, is a parallelism to Tolkien’s Ents. Today the idea has morphed into judiciary and legislation of Druid circle.

In 2002, I made a conscious decision, that in case Druidry does no longer exist, it will have to be reinvented. The “rune soup”, that pagans promote, has always irritated me, because of its missing logic. That is why, I decided in 2014 to solve the problem. It took three years.

On the surface, the runes are just an alphabet. Underneath the surface, there is a rebus, that contains ancient ideology, that is older than the pyramid. The world view, that rises from the deep, is what C.S. Lewis calls the “discarded image”.

The Inkling society in Oxford had war wolves breathing down their neck, so they took up allegory, as a means to communicate with the world. It was a long-term plan. Today, the Druidic Rune system is basically the next chapter in the Inkling saga.
