Pine Gap immediately came to mind. You don’t fly over it but it is very visible when flying into Alice Springs. Oddly, we sat next to a contractor who was flying in because he works there. Interesting conversation, for sure. Definitely the link back to the US… This video is incredibly clever, very funny, and also (given Pine Gap) clearly disturbing.
So the presence of this “communications” base may be the reason why Stray Yah is weak, i.e. the political class is made to toe the line more than elsewhere.
Exactly, Dana. What is truly amazing, however, is how incredibly ignorant the general Stray Yah population is regarding Pine Gap. We queried a guy who had spent quite a bit of time in their military, knew about Pine Gap, but did not have any idea as to what was really going on there. Just a US base as far as he was concerned. There are so many oddities about Oz politics in that the people really have no say, don’t vote or have a choice/voice.
Great point justa .. It’s about as odd as you can get down here .. The Land of Odd .. We have NO say in ANYTHING and are FORCED to take part in “their” sh!t politics .. Most “Stray Yans” can’t even say the name of this nation (Australia) .. “Stray Yah” is just another HUGE tentacle of an ancient beast taking its orders from the scum that resides in the “Washinghouse” DC ..
And we all are under the Queen’s thumb… another fact few are willing to understand or admit.
