Hi Winston, I accepted your request and thank you for the feedback, Joseph obviously isn’t interested in going into this any further right now and that’s OK, I can tell Dan’s sudden decision to quite those wonderful dialogs has thrown Joseph for a loop. I am thinking of suggesting next vid chat that Joseph might want to think about alternating doing one dialog with Dark Journalist and another with volunteer forum members if so we might be able ot pick his brain on this later (or other topics) when he’s had time to rest and sort the situation.
Joseph knows a heck of a lot about many things, but he can’t be an expert on everything and this is my husband’s field of study and personal religious practice, one good thing that did come out of this is that he (husband) has agreed that if someone as smart and influential as Joseph really believes that a return to the Norse/Germanic Gods always results in violence and bigotry than it is high time husband did some articles for public consumption on the issue.I think he’s going to try to do that as soon as he gets his book on Anglo Saxon Herb and Amulet lore off to his publisher – great to hear from you Melodi

What!! .. no more dialogues .. Oh NO
Hi I didn’t realize how this worked, that everyone can read this but that’s OK – Daniel felt he need a break (per the lats vid chat) I think Joseph is looking at other ways to have the dialogs but I picked a bad time to suggest a “scholars debate and/or discussion” on the pre-Germanic World View – so I’m going to drop the subject for now unless it comes up again; what was really scary to me as a in “Inclusive Heathen” (following the Old Norse faith) was the idea that somehow automatically by doing so (been over 25 years now) a person would adopt a violent and potentially racist ideology – that may NOT have even been exactly what Joseph was saying. But Norse traditions do have ways of dealing with “other” that is non-violent including intermarriage; which is hardly “racist” and to be fair I do not believe that particular word was actually used in the discussion.
In any case, this has spurred my husband to the need to do some both academic and non-academic focused writing on this topic, which is suddenly very important given how many people do seem to be ready to adopt the NAZI “Mythos” that combined some elements of Norse/Germanic tradition as well as “Aryan Christianity” (the idea that Jesus was a European and not a Jew) to help enforce their ideology.
The Norse were tribal, but they were pretty generous about who could “join” the tribe from Asia to North Africa and the New World – and they did have ways to deal with “not Tribe” besides just war and pillage (that was one way but not the only one).
Anyway, I’ll see if husband can help me with a good reading list in English – his new book – which is a publication of his two older books plus some new material is coming out called The Teutonic Way – from The Real Saga Press – it might be a good place to start – I’m not trying to sell books just that these were intended as an introduction to both the runes and Modern Asatru – if we are allowed to post links you can pre-order it here https://therealsagapress.com/available-titles/non-fiction/ it is the book on the right-hand side by “Kveldulfr Gundarsson which is a pen name).

I have no idea what’s going on but I’d like to get in on the Norse God’s conversation. Would love to pick your husband’s brain on Icelandic Talismans.. and “Nordology” in general.. Im trying to figue out what the Nordics were upto around 1100BC……. As hommage, I come bearing gifts: Im sure he’ll find something interesting in regards to symbology in here. 🙂 (theres a lot of adverts for Indian products, just keep going past those…)

I was making an inquiry on texts for Norse mythology as I only have a few: Gods and Myths of the Viking Age by H.R. Ellis Davidson, The Vikings by Rudolf Poertner (trans from the German), and Hamlet’s Mill by Santillana and von Deschend, which doesn’t solely cover Norse, but it includes it in their study. I’m just looking for more scholarship and recent sources of research on the topic.
Will get back later when Im not so tired and brain so mushy.. Ill probably Pm you to avoid flooding the community with book links.. Got plenty of bokos for ya: )
