On the eve of France’s bilateral treaty with (or surrender to) Germany, the Italian minister and head of the “5 Star” movement has criticised French (neo?) colonialism in Africa; he has brought to the attention of public opinion the issue of the CFA Franc, the “colonial” currency created by the French central bank and linked to the euro. What could go wrong? Lots: thanks to the banks and the military, France maintains close control over its “former” colonies with their huge mineral wealth, while the impoverished populations are driven/encouraged to put themselves in the hands of human traffickers to become illegal immigrants in Europe, and especially Italy.
