  The recoil issue must have been a design challenge. But then again, you could put up a laser gun which of course has no recoil. And if even I have thought of this…

    You’re not thinking about it properly Dana.. Put inertial dampeners onto the drone and convert the kinetic energy of the recoil into potential energy in order to recharge the battery and prolong flight capability.

    laser gun has the same problems as the laser cannon.. holding the chemical reagents necessary to make the laser photons.. weighs too much or you have a 1 shot wonder and they already have those floating in orbit as nuclear bombs..Just isnt efficient as a drone yet.. Those marching dogs Boston Dynamics makes however… those could carry a laser gun..

  … while certainly an interesting engineering accomplishment it seems quite unnecessary in that drones already have the capacity for Hellfire missiles et al. Although I will admit it is much more economical for those who wish to kill large scale on a small budget. Unfortunately, one can imagine some military industrial complex bean counter running in and exclaiming, “Look a solution that requires only pennies per death”. A technocratic death merchants wet dream. Hmmmmmm, I can easily imagine similar words were uttered in meetings between Degesch and IG Farben. Sigh … curious how The Cult of Death is always Alive and Well. Strange ….

    A hellfire missile is not going to be much use against a drone swarm, which I believe is the threat the shotgun drone is intended to neutralize. I suppose the good news is that a man on the ground with a shotgun is also going to be reasonably effective against a shotgun drone (or any kind of drone) within range; and, although relatively economical, a shotgun drone would be relatively ineffective against targets on the ground.
