    … also funny that for the last 50 years or so there has been an interesting recurring cycle. Gas prices fall during periods of low demand and rise during periods of high demand. (e.g. the approx. 60 cent per gallon increase in the last few weeks in the run up to the high demand summer period). I wonder what the connection is between the price per barrel and the price per gallon. Surely there is a connection between these two prices. It has been said that there is a relationship between them in that as the ppb rises there is a concomitant rise in the ppg.

    It would seem that the protection of facilities such as refineries, nuclear and electrical power stations would be top security priorities. If so why do there appear to be a recurrence of these fires? Incompetence? I wonder if we are seeing a recurrence of another pattern. If you withdraw security then ____________ occurs (think Kennedy here).

    Coups … refineries … what’s the difference?

    • In Europe refineries do not catch fire.
      On the other hand, oil company executives do occasionally have fatal “accidents”…
