The Cabinet Office, although it operates largely out of the limelight, has always been the most powerful department of the bureaucracy and does indeed in effect run the government. It coordinates the work of all government departments and agencies, including the Joint Intelligence Committee and the intelligence services. I have no idea how much credibility he has, but Michael Shrimpton claims that The Cabinet Office, as well as senior figures like Ted Heath, has been under the control of German Intelligence for along time – mind you, he seems to think that nearly every person of influence in the western world in recent decades has been an agent of German Intelligence. Well, if they’ve taken over The United States Corporation, why not the UK too?!
Shrimpton is definitely persona non grata with his assertions on German control over London. But this control seems to have reached its apex with May’s stalling tactics over the EU, since even most mainstream economists admit, or assert, that Germany is the prime beneficiary of UK membership. Of course in reality, with Brexit, the two countries will just sit down and talk about a new trade setup. Just as Germany has been doing with Russia and China,, quite separately from the EU.
