Just going to throw this out there as I’ve seen many posts of “trusted” sources that smell like a dead skunk to me. FWIW, I was duped too, but began to take a closer look at these “trusted whistle blowers.”
    So here’s my question.
If you were compiling data to help targeted individuals, your reputation beyond reproach, would you use Gmail to accomplish this?

    • I was reminded by a good and trusted friend to be VERY wary of the disinformation that is being disseminated widely as “truth”, including by some of the “trusted whistleblowers”. I am taking that advice to heart, Bryce.

    • I recently heard from a regular ‘trusted contact’ who said a trusted friend told her that gee mail had removed a photo of a gun attached to a messagel he sent his brother, with this explanation: “We are sorry, there are restrictions that keep us from offering this particular item for purchase in your area.” For sensitive communications I use ProtonMail.

      • I use the Proton 500Mb freebie for biz transactions that I forward to Lavabit. Proton being based @ CERN gives me pause. I really don’t think any of them escape the Hoover & here’s why…DPI. Deep Packet Inspection. This came about in ’08 IIRC. It’s not just 5 eyes. There’s 6, the last being where all this info is being routed. As long as you’re using “their pipe,” it’s captured albeit there does seem to be a modicum of privacy, at least far superior to Yahooligans, AOL, Gestapomail. The last 3 before M & A were getting paid $60 per head by the carriers to turn over your emails. I’ve had emails to these 3 censored due to content/links & many times received a daemon fail 5 days after sending it. You may recall Snowden used Lavabit & it was shut down after spooks wanted customer data. It was resurrected & at a reasonable price. LB has 3 levels of encryption, the highest being paranoid. =O I’ve never set up any because one either has to send the decrypt key via email or your entire address book via snail mail. So far, so good. Not a single spam yet, although I’ve received about 3 w/Proton…probably from someone’s address book.
The person I was referring to re: Gmail is trusted w/i the circles here and I’m not talking subscribers. FWIW, it’s not Dr. Horton as she still has faith in this person. Beyond reproach w/an impeccable CV.
This revolves around the whole Seth Rich LARP of which these trusted playa’s keep identifying themselves, especially via court cases I’ve read. There’s a common denominator (atty) involved that goes directly to the Swampington District of Criminals.
        Take it FWIW.

        • Thanks for the info. I’ve used Proton for about a year. I use Wickr Me to send “texts” back and forth with my like minded friends.
