And if the proverbial chicken crosses the road??
Well, indeed. Having seen how Ehang’s software is able to manage swarms of small drones flying in tight formations without colliding, it’s quite encouraging. At the same time, it is hard not have the same misgivings people contemplating travel in a railway carriage or a horseless carriage for the first time probably had.
While writing, I should probably put on record that, although I’m fascinated by the technology and the impact it will have on the wider economy as well as every day life, I’m not an advocate. Not long ago, we all had to acquire skills to ride a horse/drive a car, navigate, spell, do arithmetic, cook and many more. But now 5G, GPS, software, Uber, etc, are doing all this for us. The machines are taking over and we can take the lazy option, sit back and enjoy the bread, circuses and universal basic income like good, docile, controlled, manipulated little sheep, while the shepherds harvest our energy and our ability to create. A bad thing 🙁
Twice I’ve seen a semi-tractor trailer hauling oil field pipe w/no driver. Had to do a quadruple take as I couldn’t see if a midget was driving.
It had some device dangling/swinging from the top of the cab that looked like a 360 degree cam.
I see insurance exclusions in the future.

California approves the carrying of (for the time being) non-fare paying passengers. Drivers are required to be in the vehicle…..just in case!
