IG Farben and Degussa: Agenda 2030 Connection

This will be a short and sweet post, as I’m not articulate enough to elaborate much further than that, haha. I am currently on contract with a company currently know as Evonik. Formerally, it was known as Degussa and has a shadowy 3rd Reich past. Anyhow, I was recently attending a grand opening event, culminating a project that I was apart of the project team. The new product is an algal that will be used in fish farms. Its intended purpose is to replace the feeder fish, that one needs to feed to the stock fish. Linked, is a video of the ceremony, drawing the who’s who of Evonik and partner company, DSM. If you skip to around the 48:00 mark, you’ll hear mention how proud Evonik is to share it part in the UN’s Agenda 2030 initiative. My jaw hit the floor. It isn’t a major part of his speech, but it was enough to get my attention and want to get out of this project ASAP. I never knew a whole lot about the scope of the new facility until this day. If you listen to the speaker after this guy (if memory serves) it basically will kill a major fishing market (read: livelihoods). The fish that this product will replace is not for human consumption, but really only a sacrificial part in the supply chain. It may be nothing, but it was enough to send a chill down my spine.
