We know its sole reserve status is coming, but will the central bankers be able to impose their proposed “digital reserve”?
My guess is yes. Control is the name of the game. Controlling every single transaction is the ultimate endgame. Then you can apply sanctions to the individual. Think revoking Swift access to a demographic that doesn’t play well.
I would argue that a state backed digital currency is the only way it gains traction. As crypto’s stand now, they are a) clunky and inconvenient to use, and b) volatile. The red tape holding crypto’s from taking over currently are state controlled regulations. We are in the early phases of crypto’s life, similar to the early life of the internet. You used to have to be shown how to connect a terminal to the net and then dial in. It was difficult and tricky, thus few early adopters.
