They could have dispensed w/patriotism for the marketing pitch.
He says that the City is behind Brexit, and the banks are certainly concerned to preserve City and other tax haven arrangements; but City elements have also funded Remainer groups including those that have presented appeals to various Courts of Law. We might wonder whether the funding of Remainers is just a ploy, or whether there is some kind of squabble among the oligarchs.

And I agree, City is trying to positions itself as a financial hub of Belt and Roadway Initiative and they don’t need a competition from Germany in that matter. Recently even refusing to buy HK exchange probably not wanting to irritate Big Chinese Dragon a future partner in crime.
