The New California folks have done a good job. My guess? Possibly within 1 year we will have New California. This is not the same ‘divide the state’ effort we’ve seen in recent years. These folks know their history and know the Constitution. Their effort replicates the successful secession of West Virginia from Virginia.
Per the authority of Article 4, Section 3 of the Constitution, New California, aspires to be the 51st state. They have, in accordance with the requirements of Article 4, Section 3 accomplished the following:
1. Signed a Declaration of Independence.
2. Filed 90 Grievances with the Congress of the state of California. They will file 5 more by year’s end and then will have finished this part of the process.
3. They have been negotiating with the CA legislature for months. They believe current legislators may well agree to avoid the consequences of their actions; pensions are gone, agriculture has been destroyed, infrastructure is falling apart, companies are fleeing, and they have criminal exposure.
4. If the Ca legislature capitulates, the next step is to present New California to US Congress for affirmation.
5. If they don’t capitulate Trump can classify the state of CA as an insurrection. Many extant instances of current state government overreach permit this; sanctuary state, energy trade with Canada, etc.
6. If Trump declares California ‘in a state of insurrection,’ New California will apply to be the reconstituted government of California. There is now a functional New California legislature. There are 2 Senators from each county, maybe 2 Representatives, I’m not sure about this. They have already taken decisions. New California has adopted an ‘originalist’ Constitution. New California will be a republic with a bicameral legislature (House and Senate), an executive branch and state supreme court. It will be, as the US Constitution specifies, a mini-federal government. Each county will be represented in both houses. It will be small government.
Resolutions have been passed. Oroville Dam will be repaired, Auburn dam approved (?), water problem solved. It will be “the most business friendly state in the country.” They are ‘reportedly’ competent and equipped to step in.
Rick Perry, formerly Gov of Texas (2 terms), is stepping down from Trump’s Department of Energy to accept appointment as Interim Governor of New California. Two additional ‘big name’ appointments will be made within next couple of weeks. Trump is being apprised of these developments weekly.

…holy cow!…
It’s my understanding that the New California folks are advising other states who are following suit.
Not sure what they would call the spin off of the rest of New York….
