I see your point, but there are two sides of every coin that should be considered and there are bad eggs at all levels. Military contractors are a good thing and aren’t just a bunch of boogeymen. Up until relatively recently, there were no Empires with a fixed standing military, Napoleon sort of changed that game. Warfare has changed a LOT over the past few decades, and hardware has become an even bigger force multiplier. In an active war, you need to be able to scale rapidly, and as conflict begins to dissolve, it’s handy to be able to unwind your manpower just as easily. The bulk of contractors are in support positions, cooks, refuelers, plumbers, etc. A small percentage are knuckle draggers who go bump in the night. After I ended my career with the USMIL, I went to work for a company called, Triple Canopy https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triple_Canopy , at the time, it was a leading competitor of the dreaded Blackwater. I never had a bad experience with the company and it was filled with patriotic men, who lived and breathed “The Warrior Ethos”. As my eyes opened to the real motivators of the war, I decided to hang it up after nearly a decade (Hence the screen name I go by now). Wars are fought now as they always have, to further the wealth, power and influence of the few. In the military world and the contracting world, there are the Jedi and the Sith. The powerful will always have access to both types of individuals to meet their needs/desires. It will never change, as this is the nature of men.
