Hard to find but this was from the San Francisco Chronicle yesterday. Zero Hedge picked it up for a brief moment last night. And this was the first I heard of it. 12:08 p.m. 8,000 in California now self-quarantined: Some 8,000 people across the state have quarantined themselves, the California Department of Public Health told The Chronicle. That’s up from 6,700 last week. The federal government has asked people who returned from China, which has the highest number of coronavirus cases, to stay home from work and avoid big crowds.

Any relation with Asian phenotypes?
Yes they probably are Asian students that returned back from the holidays. Although it may appear that this thing whatever it is may favor Iranians and Italians, possibly anyone. Yesterday the Swiss stopped two trains entering from Italy, so we may be just starting to see the beginning of an interesting set of events. From what I’ve seen so far is this was known as early as Dec. 3rd. And one can show no symptoms for up to 27 days, the longest recorded, and be spreading it. Even after recovery, it still can be spread. No data as of yet on that. The average cold is up to 3 weeks after recovery.
There was an early assumption made that the corona virus may be more virulent to Asians. At the time, only a few Europeans had been affected by the disease and only experienced mild symptoms. With Iran and Italy, this seems to have been largely dismissed and even if Asians were preferentially affected by the disease, the Asian population in the US would still manage to cripple our medical infrastructure where we would see severe secondary effects from a US epidemic.
The mild symptoms may also not reflect the more severe re-infections that was seen in Hubei.
The US corona situation is slowly getting out of PR control of the CDC which are not testing for the virus. Out of 330 million people in the US, only 420 people have been tested. Rap your mind about this as South Korea is testing thousands and thousand of people.
They are not testing because then it makes it convenient for them as they can say without lying that they have no confirmed cases in the US. For the CDC, this is a legal crisis that they don’t want to be liable for.
Thankfully, local health departments across the US are trying to get permission from the FDA to create their own test kit since the CDC still can’t get its act together.

Please take heart. The Corona virus isn’t being found in the US yet not because it is not already here but because they cannot test for it. People are starting to get a clue about the situation now and some others like myself have been preparing since mid-January. If you have no done so, please consider the people around you and buy some necessary food supplies for a very long term situation. Consider bleach as a good sanitizer and water purifier (find out what it’s uses and recipes are before hand), get water if you don’t have access to any, toilet paper is a big one, facial tissue, medical supplies, VAPORIZER is a good amount of eucalyptus which has antiviral properties, a good vitamin C… Complete protein meals can be made with rice and lentils and keep for a very long time. Make sure you can cook them.
If you have not done so, just look around the house and see what you might need for an extended stay. The lines seen at grocery stores as a quarantine is erected are insane. You don’t want to be in those especially in an outbreak area.
If you want to prepare but don’t know what to get, ask people who may have this knowledge. This is the time to do it. When the US starts to test for the virus, it will probably be too late to prepare and rationing may take place.
I live among the Amish, away from the big towns. Have had backup food, water, medicine etc for a few years. Been expecting something, just didn’t expect this. And yeah, if you don’t test anyone, no one’s sick. Just like hiding your head in the sand. I think they want it to spread, and even if it has minimal effect here, the global economy has been grinding to a halt before this. With supply chains stopping, yeah, we’ll feel it one way or another.
I’d hate to think that they would want the disease to spread on purpose but various “blunders” across the board in various countries does seem to support this idea and I have to assume that this might be the case.
The current high numbers in Italy have appeared because of the precautionary measure by the public health system of applying swipes to 8,000 people connected with the first handful of cases. Most of the persons currently shown to be (or said to be) positive have no symptoms. This has brought the country a “bad press”, but it is a lesser evil at present.
Well I would think knowing that an area has an outbreak is really important evne if the majority of people aren’t showing symptoms. Although shocking, I think that identifying how far the disease has spread is really important since the asymptomatic phase of this disease is so long.
