Some useful points here.
Thanks, Scarmoge. I always thought I could write and then, when writing a master’s thesis, our department brought in an editor who absolutely tore our material apart. It was about structure, about language, and about content. It seemed painful at the time but it is clear that I “got it”. I have enjoyed writing ever since. That is why this article is so enlightening. She does, too.
Thanks for the link Scarmoge. I’ve always wanted to write a science fiction series since I was a kid. When I do I will use an ancient style that employs allegories and symbolism. Think of Homer’s the Illiad or the book of Metamorphosis by the Roman poet Ovid.
