These futuristic directed energy weapons will protect air bases from drones.

The U.S. Air Force has sent three different directed energy weapon systems to protect air bases abroad. The HELWS, PHASER, and THOR weapons will guard U.S. air bases from the threat of drone strikes, shooting down any unauthorized drone that comes within microwave or laser range. The new weapons are a response to the new threat of weaponized drones and drone swarms attacking airfields.

The three weapons are the High Energy Laser (HELWS), PHASER high power microwave (PHASER), and the Tactical High Power Operational Responder (THOR).

  I used read popular mechanics when a small boy….I was under the impression the target readership was little boys. Guess they grew up and manifested their fantasies. Good god, the best we can do with our intelligence and technology is weaponize the emf air waves so the big kids can play “Space Invaders” on a giant LED screen instead of the two sitter sit down console version? I give up, send all of them to their rooms and lock the damn door.

  Articles like this make me think of two things:
  1) Mr. Global hasn’t quite taken over the entire sovereign world yet. He still has to snuff out pockets of resistance at the level of at least a well funded/equipped paramilitary.
  2) they are prepping for a resistance in the form of civil unrest. The Macgyver like ingenuity of our middle eastern foes or the Viet Cong, would absolutely pale in comparison to the Red Neck and Hillbilly fury that would spring up nation wide here in the States if a true crackdown took place.
  
  In short, this could be a sign of hope. I don’t think we’ll see piece or any form of “roll back” until shots are fired and lines are drawn in the sand in blood.
