New and interesting report on COVID. I know, I know, it’s played out, but this is a short interview from a doc on the front lines. He suggests that this may indeed be some new virus and we need to take a hard look at our SOP’s to effectively deal with it. Mostly about ventilating and it being the wrong protocol.

It has been suggested that ventilating, besides being unsuitable for many already frail patients, could force pathogens into the blood, thus exacerbating the situation. The problem is that most physicians are at least 20 years out of date: if their college professor had insisted on ventilator or some other “wonderful” treatment (any criticism would get you bad marks!) they would rather keep at it, risking patients’ lives, rather than admit being wrong.
