I just turned on my computer and was greeted with the ‘Free’ offer from Microsoft to upgrade to Windows 10. Yeah, well…it’s not free.

This is about the 10’th time I have gotten this offer, does anyone know how to permanently deactivate this Special Offer from MS?

    • I’ve been getting the same thing and it’s driving me crazy too. I have just been closing it out, don’t know if it can be stopped from popping up unless maybe through firewall settings or something.

    • My husband says he got rid of it by going into the Updates Settings, via the Control Panel and changed some default settings. Nothing a lay person couldn’t do, although, it’s been many years since I’ve used anything Microsoft, so I can’t tell you exactly how to do it. But the hubby says he did a search on it and found out how to do it. Notice I did NOT say he “googled” it, ; -)

      • Thanks for the suggestion Jean. I think that did the trick. I went to ‘control panel’, then ‘System and Security’, then ‘Windows Update’ and I unchecked the ‘Update windows products’. That seems to do the trick.

    • Trashed Windows 10 yesterday and now I’m back to Windows 7. Best decision I ever made. I highly recommend people run this script if you have any version of Windows post 7, as it will block a TON of privacy violation software/telemetry.
