I just wanted to share an example of the results of current hospital policies. My wife and I have a niece who is suffering from Lupus and had to be hospitalized. She was/is in bad shape and has been in for to two weeks. Well, do to virus rules no one is allowed to see her and she’s going crazy. My wife spoke to her on the phone for thirty minutes yesterday and she’s paranoid, trusts no one, doesn’t think she’s getting out, desperately wants us to drive to Washington to get her out etc. It’s heartbreaking. A doctor suggests she has hospital related dementia, yeah no kidding. Of course the benefits of visits by loved ones are apparently not important. I know a number of Cambodians, during the Pol Pot era hospitals were used to dispose of people, not cure them, with no explanations, records etc. While she is sick and I’m not suggesting we’re there yet, the similarities are chilling.

    • So sorry to hear that. Can you keep pushing to get her on a different ward? Maybe one where there is window so you could visit from outside? We’ve just done this recently with an elderly Aunt who we thought would slip away if she didn’t have contact. We kept pushing for it and it worked.

    • Hope Katie B suggestion works.
I work in an elderly home, same problem.
The no visit rule is barbaric amonst other awful rules.
      Wish you the best.
