I have been reading a biography of N. Tesla (Seems a tragedy). It has brought to light the importance of patrons in the lives of genius-creators; where would Columbus be without the insightful patronage of Spain? Can you suggest a book (or search term) on the patrons/underwriters of notable historical events, say, wars?

“Thrice Great Hermetica” is a good place to start. Then: “Medici Money: Banking, “Metaphysics and Art in Fifteenth Century Florence” by Tim Parks, Profile Books, London 2006.
Thanks,
