I’ve been wanting to travel to Australia and NZ, but now it seems they’re uber-fascist.
Metro Melbourne has 5 million people and the city is on lockdown, surrounded by police.
Only 1 person in a household can leave at any time, and can’t go more than 3 miles from home.
They are using drones to capture license plates of disobedient citizens. I say “disobedient citizens”
because the Aussie parliaments are suspended and the state premiers and the Oz prime minister
are acting with emergency powers, like USA governors, mayors, county commissioners, so the citizens are not disobeying actual laws, but decrees by mini-Me Hitlers!A saw a video of a pregnant woman who promoted an anti-lockdown protest on her Faceboook
page, then the police showed up at her home and arresteed.
A man driving in Australia was asked for “Your papers, please (a line from old WW2
anti-Nazi movies) and refused, so the police used a portable battering ram to break open
his car window.
I’ve seen similar vids of this in USA, Canada, Spain, UK, France, Germany …

Hey Vox, thanks for putting things into perspective about NZ.
Most of the negative things I’ve read the last few years are about Oz, pre- and post-Covid, like rounding up “boat people” into internment camps, court “gag” orders that not only bar journalists from reporting on a current trial, but that block them from saying that there is a gag order! Oz is also trying to prevent individuals from using VPNs for Internet privacy. And police can stop you and demand to strip search you, even in public, and search your body cavities, rear and front, for drugs. From what you said I’m assuming that’s not the case in NZ.
You say NZ is more of a nanny state that a police state, my impression
is that Oz is becoming more and more a police state, what’s your opinion.
In the States you have to find a safe place, so even in states without lockdowns (aka “stay at home” orders) mayors of cities in those states
are imposing draconian orders. On the other hand, it seems that the
farther you are from the city center the easier it is to walk around without
a face mask, or you can jay walk without getting ticketed, or ride a bicycle
on the sidewalk, etc.
It’s hard for all of us to know what is really happening in another country,
or even in another city in our own country, because of sensationalized
news, whether it’s mainstream or alternative!
