…hmmm… “free and independent press” for “alternative media,” “corporate controlled media” for the “mainstream media”? if you agree or have better suggestions, let’s start using these terms and driving them into the discussion

I like this idea. How about just “controlled media” because in some parts of the world it is not controlled by corporations but other players?
Based upon your comment, Cara, I’ll probably wind up using the terms “directed media,” “controlled media” and “corporate controlled media,” depending upon the actors involved. These are ‘players’ for whom a scorecard is possible.
I’ve been thinking about it since I saw this yesterday. I like the idea of “free media” for several reasons: it’s easy and catchy, it hearkens to the First Amendment and it’s very clear and distinct from “corporate media” etc.
