I don’t have data to back up my gut feeling, but I’ve never bought the “gateway drug” claim about marijuana. It might be a gateway to addiction to marijuana, but you could say the same about alcohol and other legal substances. I think the marijuana arrests are just an easy way to keep all those private prisons full, to maximize shareholder value.
If they somehow manage to legalize marijuana, it would kick big pharma in the teeth. Pain, anxiety, depression, autism, sleeping problems, ADD, many people benefit in many ways from a little weed.
FWIW my personal experience with medical marijuana/THC capsules: They’re a godsend for severe fibromyalgia (or whatever it is) pain that is otherwise untreatable, or barely treatable, even with much more dangerous prescription painkillers and other awful meds. Happens to help neuropathy pain too. I take it sparingly, haven’t gotten addicted to it, haven’t been gateway’ed into anything.
It’s funny how there is very little coverage of the “white powder” brought in by the shipload from S. America and apparently much favoured in the “corridors of power /powder”).
Like coffee is a “gateway drug” to methamphetamines?
