I’m surprised Iowa’s governor has started to knuckle under. Disappointing… Still better than most states. Texas governor surprised me most. I figured if any state would reject mask madness, it would be Texas.

    • It was explained that Gov. Abbott, TX, had decided that masks should be optional until VP Pence showed up and told him that “Texans need to learn to wear masks”. A person overheard the conversation from the next room and reported it at the beginning of the “mandate”. Really aggravating.

      • So Pence could be on the mask bandwagon? That’s (not) encouraging!

        • Pence is an a-hole, he was governor of the state I live in. And no I don’t take sides, I judge their actions. That being said, if they succeed in installing Biden, it will end up being almost impossible to make a living in this country unless you submit to their planned tyranny.

          • I agree it will be hard to make a living without submitting to medical tyranny. I’m not confident we can totally escape it even with Trump in office. I think people who don’t want to submit are going to have to move to less tyrannical places, become self-employed, set up local “off-the-grid” networks for protection and trading goods/services, or some combination of all those things. And in the meantime fight legal battles against the growing tyranny or support those who do.

            • Talked to a small business owner yesterday who has been advised by state associations of new rules that perceived discrimination will result in loss of membership. Membership in the associations is required by a very conservative state. Is it starting?

            • Rheba – That’s shocking!! Sounds to me like critical race theory has infected the regulatory agencies or business associations of that state. It’s a creeping cancer that’s spreading all over.

The Covid part, I predict, will go something like this: The state will say to small business owners, submit proof you and staff are up to date on Covid vax, or no license for you. Insurance companies–for business, liability, or health insurance–same deal. That’s how I predict they’re going to coerce most of the population into taking the vax (and digital vax certificate) “voluntarily.” They’ll use the private sector and business/health/other regulations.

    • I watched a Zoom meeting this afternoon Here in Palmview TX (south Texas-3 miles from the Rio Grande River) concerning RV park activities for snowbirds. The county judge’s office requires a permit be obtained for any gathering of more than 10 persons whether indoors or outdoors. We would need a permit for each planned activity. Therefore the RV Park is not sponsoring any activities this season due to the size of our hall and the need to monitor the event to assure compliance of social distance and wearing of face coverings. Instead we posted warning signs around the park for those who host their own events. The local police come through the park daily to check…nice living in a free country. Eight months and the whole world is now micromanaged. Guess those management and psychology classes are bearing “fruit”! (Cakes)!

      • … go to the county judge’s office and ask for a: … listen and just follow the script … Enjoy!

      • … yet another property of the “magic virus”. Obviously it is only able to infect if 10 or more or present. I’m sure the number varies from place to place. I’ve asked several people for the
“magic formula” for determining the allowable number per gathering … can you hear the crickets chirping? I think after reading BB’s post that I will now ask for the heretofore unknown criteria that make the number EXACTLY the same whether or not one is inside or outside.

        • Cute, thanks. No face to face meetings with constituents allowed offices are closed all business is conducted via phone or online. The judge’s last name is Cortez. I refer to him as King Cortez.
Funny how a Spanish conquistador is still running things. He’s 76 and holding on to his power and fear of death. Ug

        • In England, their version of the virus only strikes if you’re in groups of 6 or more… Unless your “personal support bubble” includes 7 or more… or some such baloney. In France, it mostly strikes after curfew time, but never on crowded subways. All different kinds of variants all over the U.S. I’ve come to the conclusion that the point is to drive us crazy and get us to lose our bearings.

      • Wow… The insanity is like mold–it just keeps spreading. Seems like it’s creating petty tyrants everywhere.
