The story about Trump’s lawyers is, to my mind, probably the most important. If its culturally acceptable to harass lawyers–not to mention a president’s lawyers–AND if some of the lawyers actually buckle under the pressure, we’re living in a jungle, not a republic. That’s a big deal. Heck, even the mafia let you stay in business as long as you paid them off. Now the cancel crowd and street thugs can trash a lawyer’s career?? I find myself wondering if this is really happening or just some kind of kabuki theater!

Also, you have to take the dark with the light. If not for lawyers, we would not have the Constitution, and a good one at that.

I was more thinking about the Lincoln Project-type social media mob campaigns, like the one that apparently caused Porter Wright Morris & Arthur to withdraw from representing Trump. The normalization of organized harassment campaigns against lawyers, with the aim of depriving people you don’t like of legal representation, is new in the U.S. and much more typical of a banana republic than of a constitutional democratic republic.

About the more recent story of attorney Linda Kerns, I really don’t think the kind of harassment she’s alleging is typical in the legal profession: “Since this case was filed, undersigned counsel has been subjected to continuous harassment in the form of abuse e-mails, phone calls, physical and economic threats, and even accusations of treason – all for representing the President of the United States’ campaign” (https://www.zerohedge.com/political/another-trump-attorney-harassed-election-challenges-move-through-courts). I also think it’s got to actually be very unprofessional, unusual behavior being aimed at her if she’s taking the step of filing suit over it. I doubt she’s knowingly having a frivolous lawsuit filed in her own name.

What next?!! Considering the source, I’m a little wary–this is coming from an establishment character who’s defended state-sanctioned forced vaccination in the U.S. But… assuming you think it might be real or you get some independent verification besides this one lawyer’s statement, consider putting this in your news wrap-up.
