About the last point, I wonder. Seems like there’s always some proportion with a kind of Stockholm syndrome that makes them idolize the oppressor and embrace the oppression. This is the feeling I get when I see all the enthusiastic mask-wearers around me. While others of us really chafe at having to put on a muzzle or risk getting a fine or causing one’s neighbors to fly into hysterics.
It has long been disturbing to me how many people feel warm, safe and secure in their servitude. PRC residents are a good example but they are by no means the only ones.
