My aunt has a collection of green glass but I don’t recall if she’s had it tested … as kids we enjoyed going with her to rummage sales and junk shops.
Margaret W, arsenic oxide was used to colour glass. Because of its oxidizing effect, it was employed as a fining agent to clarify iron containing glass. It will also fade the color of manganese and stabilize other colors (i.e. light green). In pot glasses large quantities are used to reduce yellow coloration.
Tell her to shine a “black light” (UV) on it. These are available cheap as little flashlights and can show up nice effects on glass. If there is anything resembling the pieces in the video they should NOT be kept or used around people, food or drink….
There is something nagging about this U-Glass from the 1940s: wasn’t there some top secret research going on and is it connected with this “unusual” glasswork?
