… It would be nice if we were to receive a courtesy notice when posts are virtually suicided indicating the reason (s).

The Answer to your code is as the result of the following plug in. As to why said plug in is present and/or necessary. That’s above my pay grade! For me though, the case against utilizing word-mess as a solution is patently clear.

“Suicide” is an odd choice of words.
It’s a minimally / badly Moderated / maintained website.
Mods (moderators) usually get paid…for a reason.
It’s (can be) a full time job.
There is no full time Mod’ on this website.
A casually / badly maintained, unmoderated website (with *bad word* filters) will generate *anomalous* results.
If the users are a bit old / paranoid etc, this will look (to them) a lot like “someone” deleting their posts.
It’s probably something like blakecosmos and Forum Borealis said. I imagine it’s also possible that the web hosting service, if it’s shared web hosting for instance, can’t always keep up with the traffic. In any case, I’m 99.999% sure the disappearances are tech glitches rather than anything deliberate.
I’ve learned to write a longer post in a word program first, then paste it into the What’s New box. Cuts down on the frustration of re-typing it again.
