Insanity has been misconstrued as patriotism, while delusions of political grandeur have been mistaken for reality. This applies to both sides of that wretched isle.

The little bit of news I’ve subjected myself to recently, both foreign and domestic, ignores the serious part and wails about what’s theater (comparatively tame theater, at that). The theater is a shriek-o-meter-amplified protest and a Congressional clown show. The serious part is that the institutions of government and the voting process have definitively proved themselves non-functional, due to the parties and people running them.

“Congressional clown show”. I second that nice little phrase. My hope is that the vote tallying process will be seriously dealt with as it seems likely at this point that neither party will except outcomes if we cannot bring simplistic clarity into how votes are counted. It seems that an analog process may be the easiest way to bring transparency back into the fold, even though analog processes have faults as well. Ugh. What a political mess we find ourselves in these days.

Pretty simple if they wanted to solve it… Three “p’s”: paper, pen, proof of citizenship. Not foolproof, but as close as we’re gonna get.
