Hey again Giza brothers and sisters,

If i could go back in time and secretly watch someones life from afar, Johann Sebastian Bach would be my second choice, my first will always be my father, who admired Bach like no other. I had overheard him saying to his older brother that “Johann Sebastian Bach was without peer.” For 32 years i have remembered scattered bits and pieces of my father, with most of my memories caming after the birth of my son. This last month through stimulating conversation here at Giza, being reminded of Bach from Dr. Farrell, then listening to his music have brought more and more memories of my dad back for me.
This is a wonderful documentary i accidentally found early this morning by Sir John Elliot Gardiner, a British conductor on the life of Johann Sebastian Bach. A documentary which i am sure my father would love and one which i wish to share here now with all of you. My father would play vinyl records of Bach since i was baby, he use to say that it would quiet me then and my eyes would widen with attention. Ironically listening to various pieces of this one of a kind master these last few day, has had me crying like a baby. Maybe it is like Dr. Farrell says, that classical music has a effect of “coherence” on the body, maybe it has a cathartic one as well . . .

    • I watched the whole thing and enjoyed it tremendously.
      Thank you Sunny and Max.

        • Good morning acorn,

You are quite welcome, I’ve watched it 3 times since first coming across it early yesterday morning. I have found other documentaries on YouTube on the subject of Bach since my initial ‘query’ yesterday, but none compare to Sir John Elliot Gardiner‘s telling of J.S. Bach’s story. Late last night I also came across a Bach revisiting also by Sir John Elliot Gardiner on YouTube, here is the link :

          Hope you enjoy it . . .

            • I wanted to find a church near my hotel in
Lausanne. I walked and walked and found one. It was very old and after WWII a decision had been reached apparently to only play Bach in the church. No sermons. Just the music. You could stay as long as you wanted, and the minute I knelt down I knew God would never leave me.

                • Hello Dr. Alicia Hill,

Thank you for sharing your story, it sounds absolutely beautiful, priceless moments of true divine exhalation . . .
