    This article reminds me of a certain Dr Evil trying to put laser beams on sharks. I suppose laser beams on airplane is the first great public leap forward into scifi world.

      So they’ve never tested aerial laser weapons before… sure.

        Considering how much missiles changed air to air combat I can’t determine if laser cannons should be thought of instantaneous missiles or something else. I’m leaning towards something else because unlike missiles I’m not aware of any countermeasures towards laser cannons. I suspect we’ll soon find out what shielding capabilities exit, if any. “Switch all power to front deflector screen”
