    Happy sign!
Spring time and the bees are busy—collecting and returning to the hive with the yellow and orange pollen.

    • Hey Camille,

You reminded me of youth, of sitting quietly by a beehive in the mid afternoon watching the bees unloading their deliveries come and go. Thank you . . .

      • I am so worried about our bees here in Central TX. The storm pretty much destroyed their food sources. I had 20+ yo Rosemary hedges that were blooming and covered with bees just before 6 days of non-stop freeze, including temperatures not reached here before and now everything, including the live oaks, are covered in brown burned leaves. Flowers are months away.

        • justa some how your post disappeared!
          But here is my reply–
Two years ago I had so many bees at my hummingbird feeder the hummingbirds could not get near it. I decided to make a bee feeder with a shallow plastic container some fresh veggies had been packaged in. I used small metal wire in each corner to make a handle, added some small pebbles for the bees to stand on, filled the container ½ full with hummingbird sugar water, and hung it away from the hummingbird feeder.
I had hundreds of bees to gather at the rather unattractive feeder! I would go close to watch them and they would land all over me—in my hair, on my arms, etc– never once did I get stung. The hummingbirds were happy, the bees were happy and the butterflies in my stomach were happy! The whole experience turn out to be my summer mini- religious experience!
Maybe you could consider making a bee feeder? They oblivious do not have be a work of art 🙂
Many prayers were sent to the people of Texas. Hopefully life for you will return to normal soon!!

            • Hey Camille,

Hope you have been well, safe and in high spirits, sorry for my lateness but I really enjoyed reading your reply and wished to respond. I never knew that one could make a bee feeder using vegetables packed into a container with pebbles and hummingbird sugar water. In fact i never actually knew that people actually made hummingbird feeders. I am not sure if you are in Texas, but my son’s prayers along with my own were among those sent out to all the people in Texas for safety, security and a speedy recovery. Hopefully the hummingbirds as well as the rest of the wildlife were covered by the prayers. It is so important that people not only maintain their delicate balance with nature but do as much as they can to nurture and support it. Thank you for the lovely vivid imagery of your story it was a much needed picture postcard break from the everyday madness of late. My best from overseas . . .
