The 26,000-Year Astronomical Monument Hidden in Plain Sight

“These [human] postures may be matched to their corresponding reflexes in terms of angle and degree much as one would join cams in a worm-gear drive. There is an angle for doubt, for sorrow, for hate, for joy, for contemplation, and for devotion. There are as many others as there are fleeting emotions within the brain of each individual who inhabits the Earth. Who knows not all these postures of the mind if he would but stop to think of them as usable factors for determining proclivities of character? It is a knowledge bred down to us through the past experience of the whole race of men.”

    • Fascinating. Thank you for sharing.
I found one of the comments pertaining to the article also of interest.
“…I’m particularly intrigued by the passage of his writing you quote, which pretty clearly expresses the idea that humans embody and express our emotions and thoughts with our entire bodies. This is an idea that should be familiar to any competent actor, dancer, or visual artist (especially a sculptor). Hansen is saying that the angle we hold our limbs at encodes a particular feeling, and that this code is universal — inherited through culture or possibly even the genetic code. Certainly grounds for further research, and possibly bad news for those who hope for immortality via data-dump. And all the more reason to maintain our personal, cultural and planetary bodies for the long now.”
