    Out for dinner tonight, and a number of friends arrived holding up two fingers which I assumed were victory signs. I did not know what they meant until one individual told me the sign indicated that they had had the 2 vaccines. I was speechless.

    • What once seemed like life, is similar to paint dripping down the canvass, in no form or shape. A sadness.

        • … oh, you mean like modern art? like possibly Study after Velázquez’s Portrait of Pope Innocent X by Francis Bacon (1953).
          for a possible visualization of our most recent unpleasantness see Dali’s Morphological Echo

            • Hmm… Dali’s melting watches were at least discernible as watches, as the table in this painting is discernible as a table. Today’s human society is nearly indiscernible as human. Postmodern paint splashing and Pollock–now there’s your analogy.

                • Dali was certainly a master of his craft, Picasso, too. Both may have slipped into a state of creative psychosis but at least both could actually paint. I think a better analogy takes it even further… https://www.tate.org.uk/art/artworks/duchamp-fountain-t07573

                  • Re: Pollock. For the corpus, or is that more plainly the corpse of modern art, we may offer our heartfelt thanks to our betters at the See/Aye/Eh for their comprehensive efforts at the business of “Culture Creation”. Under the rubric of the Cold War our betters were determined to show what “an open society” really looked like via its emphasis on context over content and its embrace of the post modern critique. That the principal Kull-Lectur of this drivel was a Rock-A-Failure should also surprise no one.

                  • As terrifying as Bacon’s painting is, I think he captures quite well the essence of what fills that seat.

                • I attended a wake over the weekend where the primary topic of discussion, was who had the injections, how they maneuvered their way into getting them and how this made them a better “member of society” than those who have either not been offered the opportunity or who, GASP would elect not to have it or question “the science”. I was honestly aghast at the sheer compliance and the blind faith in display.

                    • I don’t question the science, jus those behind it and those who interpret it.

                        • I like the following: “There are two kinds of Science, the actual Science, and the kind of Science you pay for.”

                          It also brings to mind a line from Drug Kingpin Jose Yero in Michael Mann’s Film: “Miami Vice”

                          “ In my business I do not purchase a service, I pay for a result”

                        • just tell them they have done a great service to mankind in consenting to be a part of the experiment. to be said without ridicule in a heart felt way. also say that you hope that the injury compensation fund will not run out of funds and that the taxpayers have been very generous in looking out for everyone.
                          if they ask me if I will get the vaccine, I say that I am looking forward to the results of the research at which time I will evaluate the risks and benefits.

                        • When they flash the V two finger sign?
                          Hold-up your hand w/the two fingers spread;
                          take the index finger from your other hand
                          and move it in-between the other two finger’s V.
                          That’s the “No 2 two shots”, return sign.
