Bach – Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme BWV 645 – Zerer | Netherlands Bach Society

In honor of John Sebastian Bach’s birthday today – (thank you DanaThomas for the wonderful reminder) – one of my favorite pieces performed by organist Wolfgang Zerer.

Good afternoon to the whole Giza family.

Thank you. A very clean performance. I was in need of this today – efharisto.

        • Hello again PiPoe.

‘Orchestral Pipe Organ’, it is very beautiful. You are quite welcome, we all have eachother here and these simple gifts can accomplish so much, perform small miracles, heal, cleanse, revitalize the heart and above all cohere the soul. Parakalo (Παρακαλώ) . . .

        • Love this!

            • Hello Bianca,

Thank you, let us each post our own favorites of J.S. Bach and C.P.E. Bach daily.

            • Actually, he was born on March 31st, but that was on the old Julian calendar, so today, yes.

                • Hello Dr. Farrell,

Forgive my ignorance but I was not aware of the existence of the old Julian calendar and it’s significance. Thank you very much for the information and for that fact. I will do my due diligence to find out more about it.

I also have to something to ask of you, but only if you have the time, as I understand you are quite busy. Being that you are a lover of history and of the Orthodox faith, as you already know Wednesday is March 25th, Greek Independence Day its 200 year anniversary and also the Annunciation (Evangelismos) of the Theotokos. The government here has forbidden all parades, i am assuming that only heads of state along with other world figures will be in a attendance for celebration. They have a announced that there will be a immense police presence to deter non compliance, and I believe this is an intentional death blow to the already shattered Greek spirit of the white cross ‘freedom or death”.
What humbly I ask is this, either as a tiny news or views short of a short blog about the history of that day, its religious meaning and the ties it may have between those two events. I imagine that they are not coincidental, any miscellaneous knowledge that you might also have either in fact (for example: the eventual imprisonment of Theodoros Kolokotronis and its reason) or any other high octane speculation would be most appreciated. No matter your decision for that day, I thank you very much in advance, as any of your insight it would mean a lot to me.

I wish (σου εύχομαι) Shylo and yourself well (Να είστε καλά), a good day (Καλημέρα) and a wonderful week (Καλή εβδομάδα).

P.S. if you believe that this would be better submitted as a question in turn for the next upcoming Vidchat, then I fully understand and will eagerly do so.

                  Thomas
