France declares agricultural ‘disaster’ after spring frosts damage vineyards

Good morning to everyone at Giza.

    • A little geoengineering here, a little geoengineering there?
Locally where I live, sprinkler systems are used on a regular basis to prevent frost damage to strawberry crops. These systems are set up before the growing season starts and left in place in case of drought. Tractor powered pumps are started before the temperature drops to freezing and left running all night. A piping system with sprinklers, farm tractor coupled to a high volume pump via pto, and a good water source are the basics needed for crop preservation during cold frosty nights. Perhaps these vineyard locales do not have adequate water supplies nearby? Grapes like berries contain a lot of water so this is not an issue. Prolonged periods of rain however, can produce rot as the crops aren’t harvested in the rain. Maybe frost is easier to geoengineer in those locales rather than rain?

        • Hello and good afternoon Bluenose,

You must be very lucky to be local to farming and harvesting. Thank you for the concise description of farming risk management measures. I guess then that France’s problem is either intentional on their part (highly unlikely) or geo-engineered to serve a more sinister purpose on a global scale. From the madness happening worldwide i do not know why i would be surprised at something as simple as this from people who have manipulating weather over the last several decades.

          • Most things are so much more expensive in Western Europe than North America (often due to excessive taxation) that I doubt most French farmers could afford to install sprinkler systems and pay for the extra water. Lots of farming in France is still — for the moment — done on small farms. But I’m no expert; that’s just my guess from what I saw over there.
