Probably just one of the many reasons China is changing its actual underlying internet infrastructure. Other countries are following suit around the world, as well. That’s where you get into a truly fragmented internet; a so-called, “splintered internet”; or, even as the mainstream frames it: an inevitable decoupling between China & the USSA[making it all about China & the USSSA].
Its become a self-fulfilling prophesy.
The media frames that problem, as “techno-nationalism”[technology as a tool of the state]. That it is now so deeply ingrained the the Chinese State, it has gone past the point of no return.
Now, the questions asked are: How far as the decoupling gone?; Are there still areas of overlap?; How far & fast is this going to go?
The Chinese want the underlying internet infrastructure to be in the hands of the State, rather that the individuals as a whole.

Many governments are persuaded because of the current lawless self-regulation – by mostly private American platform monopolies.
