“It is not the practice of the Department to send bodies of Indians by rail excepting under very exceptional circumstances,” read a response from the Department of Indian Affairs, adding that it was “an expenditure which the Department does not feel warranted in authorizing.”
“The main killer was disease, particularly tuberculosis. Given their cramped conditions and negligent health practices, residential schools were hotbeds for the spread of TB.”

    • This whole subject feels extremely dark and disturbing and brings to mind the ten children who were never seen again after having allegedly being taken on a picnic by The Queen and Philip in 1964. That was the same school, Kamloops.

      • This is an area of my expertise, beginning in 1967/8. Robert Kennedy was going to hold hearings on this later in the summer, but of course that didn’t happen. Not only were these places that attracted paedophiles, but those who wanted to study why the children had various forms of psychic abilities. For decades I have listened to stories of sadism in these places. Horrific.
