Has Orthodoxy lost its damn mind! Well they can take a flying leap if this is their new doctrine…No, I’m NOT responsible for the lives of others…NO Nein Nyet! I’m pretty sure that’s the western doctrine of corporate personhood…

…it always ends in the Grand Abstractions…is there no Mark of Ephesus?

    • Enter the Grand Abstractions and your God Given freedom is toast…

      • The author of the article is Jonny Tickle and the Metropolitan is named Hilarion. Was this first posted on The Onion or Babylon Bee?

          • This was an actual article posted by Russia Today (RT). The article is about a statement the Metropolitan of the Russian Archdiocese of America (commonly known as ROCOR) released. In other words, sadly this is no joke. It’s a serious cultural and spiritual issue.

          • Another case of a religious institution bowing to the will of the state? Or perhaps of a religious institution caving in to a public relations agenda?

“We are responsible for all those who come into contact with us”? I’d like to hear a logical, philosophical, or religious justification for that one!

            • Wait a minute, isn’t religion the opiate of the masses?!! Oh, yeah I forgot, Russia no longer is a Marxist state. They ALL changed their minds back in the 90’s.

              • As I keep saying, ALL churches are infiltrated and coopted… Q.E.D.

                • To be blunt the last st. Mark of Ephesus and st. Gregory Palamas we had was the late Metropolitan of Montenegro, Amphilocius, who passed away in November 2020 and the Serbian Patriarch Irenaeus who passed away in January 2021. Both men were well respected even by those that disagreed with them. That’s the problem. These days true defenders of Orthodoxy such as Fr. Peter Heers and Neophytos of Morphou get labeled as “nut job conspiracy theorists” because they disagree with the standard narrative of the virus.
However, the two late hierarchs I mentioned were firmly against the fear narrative of the virus and opposed the shutting down of the Churches. This was not well known among Orthodox Christians in the West. The difference here is that everyone loyal to these two hierarchs would have listened to them had they lived another few months. In other words, their passing in the middle of the scamdemic proved to be quite convenient to the technocrats. I think more Orthodox in the West would have opposed the narrative had they understood that the home country’s Patriarch opposed the measures the government took against the Church. Of course, not all Patriarchs opposed the fear narrative of the virus.
I could give more examples of hierarchs and priests who oppose the fear narrative of the virus. In short, I think it is important the hierarchs opposed to all of the corruption and nuttyness are given considerably more respect and considerations. It is an issue I’m willing to discuss more privately.
