Do you remember as a kid in America when all the larger grocery stores had a gizmo where you could test your vacuum tubes? If it was bad, the same gizmo had drawers full of them so that you could buy the replacement.

  Yep, it was the drug store for us.
  In hindsight it seems like a bad idea that ordinary folk were fishing around

    There were plenty of radio/Television set repairmen around to fix things cheaply including home visits in those days. In the color T.V. days they would regularly degauss the screens. A lot of folks were intelligent enough to read and follow instructions not to touch any capacitors and turn off their sets for several hours first. In 1956, I was 8 years old when 2 other kids and myself use to go over to our neighbor’s house where he taught us about electronics and short-wave radio transceivers and commercial AM as well as the new FM band coming online. He instilled a healthy respect of the power and dangers of working around electrical devices. Of course, I live in the present when it is routine to throw away the old big screen set used for streaming subscriptions and buy a new one for a hundred and fifty bucks or so. But that is really not the thing about this for me. I am just so disappointed and sad that the powers that be (like Kissinger, Nixon, politicians of all parties) sold out to the CCP (the Chinese Communist Party) and not enough Americans have yet to do something about it.

      Agreed. I remember those days. I was born back then too. And I am disgusted and disappointed in our collective response to the CCP so far as well!

      Actually cash… the CCP buys off a lot of traitor bastards! From the top like Mitch McConnell and his wife(and her family), Hunter Biden, to the college professor in Kentucky as an example. Money is their currency of choice
