    Looks like the 200 square miles of west Texas the Chinese wanted is a no go, thanks to Kyle Bass.

            Reminds me of an in person conversation I had almost 50 years ago with an influential financial advisor who, then and now, makes his living on lecture tours. I posited the potential dangers of allowing foreign ownership of property in the US. He dismissed this concern as insignificant. Likewise concerns regarding the construction of the Hanford nuclear generation site in Washington State (during the administration of Gov. Dixie Ray Lee – now deceased – a rabid “must do” advocate, who did not live long enough to witness the resulting devastating contamination and ceding the contaminated lands back to the indigenous people with orders to clean it up.

            I finally concluded that the so-called best and brightest are, generally speaking, neither. I omit other numerous incidents. I take no pleasure of retroactively being proven correct on these and other happenings of the times. Meanwhile, I enjoy what is left to enjoy, while still available, and soldier on, so to speak.
