ARE WE UNDER ATTACK BY THE MULE?
Most people here have read Asimov’s “Foundation and Empire” first published in 1952, with the character called the Mule who conquered the galaxy thanks to his psychic powers. The standard interpretation is to read this as a metaphor for psychological warfare techniques used in World War II, since officially psychic warfare does not exist. One of those methods was to create fear and despondency on a planetary scale – the Planetary Emotional Depressor. In other words, a form of psychic warfare. I’m currently seeing a lot of this in the web sphere also on the “good side” as they react proclamations by the oligarchs, more and more hysterical and illogical. Indeed, the fear and despondency these oligarchs are projecting could actually reflect a sort of inner realization about their own fate rather than about humanity as a whole.
