My Family reunion was canceled…. Although everyone but me received the spurting prick into their bodies, they are all too terrified even to hang out with each other–despite my stated intention not to attend and lounge around urinating in the yard with the animals. A quote from The Last Of The Mohicans comes to mind with regard to this assemblage purporting to be related to me–accepting my Father who expects most of us to be dead soon and whose honest and intelligent company I genuinely enjoy. Cora: “Duncan, you are a man with a few good qualities, but taken as a whole, it was wrong to have thought so highly of you.” Like the ending of Titanic, this film has many scenes that speak to our present predicaments. The massacre scene in which the population of the fort walks blithely to an end they cannot contemplate, much less resist and, of course, the death of Alice as Magua beckons. Her dismissal of his entreaties pretty much captures my own take on those who proffer the term “Vaccine Hesitancy.” You can check out these and other scenes on the web, or better yet, just watch the whole movie again.
