When I sent a similar article my RN sister, former administrator in a blood disorder section of the CDC, her response was ” You mean the hydroxychloroquine doc. Yeah I know about his non-randomized study of his own 24 patients.” Needless to say, we don’t agree about much related to the CV controversy, she took the jab and I am still horrified, but I thought I would throw this statement in from someone who spent years in clinical work from regional directorship to CDC to eventually testing for a pharmaceutical company. Not everyone thinks Dr. Zelenko is an authority.

Yes, somehow it’s an article of pharmaceutical faith that “if it’s not randomized and placebo-controlled, it’s not evidence.” If the only discoveries ever used were those that came from large, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled studies, we’d still be living in the Stone Age. Zelenko’s evidence is certainly more like case reports than formal studies. Case reports may be of lesser evidentiary value than well-designed studies, but they aren’t necessarily of no value. I think the trouble with large, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled studies is that they cost many millions to run. Conveniently, only big corporations and other highly funded organizations can afford to carry them out. The trouble with dismissing HCQ out of hand, of course, is that it isn’t just one doctor in the U.S. and his case reports that support its use. You’ve got studies from the like of infectious disease specialist Prof. Didier Raoult and multiple others (which should satisfy even believers in germ theory), not to mention HCQ being widely used in countries around the world (which should be enough to satisfy those simply looking for empirical data of what works, regardless of how or why). But I’m probably preaching to the converted. 🙂
