Nothing to se here… Move along! Here to all you strategist and war gamers out there! A clue to the next possible military conflict. The A10 to be used to destroy small boats and swarms of small hostel craft. The USN is most adapt at projecting power but lacks good in close defense against swarms of small craft. To clear the seaways of these hostel small destructive craft the A10 would be more than a viable solution. So who uses these small craft in such a way as described? Well North Korea and Iran to name a few. Both lack large naval assets and the ability to get into a large surface gun fight with a huge dominant surface fleet. They are approaching the task like Germany employed their U-boats as an only smart defense which has a potent sting. Just my two cents.

Many reasons… One cost effective as a tried and true killer of moving objects. Swarm weapons are new and not yet fully tried and intergraded into our existing systems I would imagine. Also if the swarm failed you now have an incoming threat and limited ways to deal with it. The USN no longer has gunned warships like that of earlier wars and the modern ships defend themselves via detection and long distances with missiles. They do have guns but they are a last resort and less accurate than a expensive missile.
