    On the train I had the pleasant company of a US American military attorney of some sort. There were others seated around us in a very, very full train. After a light and jovial bit of conversation, he asked me in a general way what I thought about a certain French general. Before I could answer, an elderly woman sitting across from announced in thickly accented English, “He had no testicles.” No one disagreed, and the American soldier was shocked.

      I conclude. You’re french, you were talking about de Gaulle and the heavily accented english was accented German?

      And yes. he was good at running.. But following the betrayal at Vichy.. what else could he do? Go to UK and radio the French to fight in his name?
